Finding the right pace

Farm life can be,
At times unstructured,
Beyond milking and feeding stock.
A list of jobs,
Essential.
As too,
Good communication between the farmers.
Yet the tasks are inexhaustible.
Requiring military style stratagem.
Order of operations,
Essential.
Watering at Midday?
Fencing at Midday?
Anything at Midday in this heat?
But how to fit it all in.
Get up earlier?
Difficult when you retire late.
It seems logical that;
'Cart before the horse',
Has rural origins.
