Morris did not like the gift.
An expectation was not met.
His hopes were for something...
Different,
And better,
Than what he had received.
Disapointment was etched in the long lines of his face.
He could not look at his benefactor.
He was pressed.
He answered truthfully.
" It's just a stick."
So why is he chastised for not being thankful?
Gratitude cannot be demanded.
A gift ceases to be a gift,
If there is any expectation of gratitude.
